Top Three Essential Oils and Hair Loss Solutions

You have heard a lot about essential oils and hair loss. For years now, you have been trying to desperately grow your tresses, but it may already be due to your genes why your mane takes a long time to regrow. You have tried a lot of products and treatments, but the results were superficial. You want something that will last and produce a great effect, hence you are serious in finding out more about essential oils and hair growth.

First and foremost, do not confuse mineral oils and essential oils. There are a lot of hair care products that contain mineral oils, which are synthetic elements that act as preservatives. Mineral oils are derived from petroleum sources. These can clog the pores of your skin, making it hard for your skin to get rid of toxins. As a result, you will not see tremendous effects in terms of hair growth and the products may also have negative effects on your tresses and skin in the long run.

Switch to Essential Oils and Hair Growth Products

It is best that you try out the oils and hair growth products first before continuing with its use. This way, you can test if you are allergic to any of these natural oils and also to find out which one will work best for the type of tresses that you have.

To help you decide which products to use, here’s a list of the top essential oils that are beneficial for your mane.

1. Lavender Essential Oil. This is typically grown in places with temperate climates. The oil was used by ancient practitioners in treating and preventing baldness, as well as in growing the tresses. This is effective because of its antibacterial elements that can help in treating scalp problems. When it reaches the hair shaft, the oil works its wonders in getting rid of dandruff and in eliminating the dryness of the skin.

You can use the infused oil in massaging your head and scalp nightly. Its scent has a calming effect, which can help you sleep soundly. When you wake up in the morning, use an organic shampoo in washing your locks. Towel dry your hair before styling and avoid using a blow dryer or any products that utilize heat such as curlers and irons. Lavender oil can add volume to your hair with continued use.

If you have time, you can also make your own lavender water and use this in rinsing your tresses every day. To do this, you need to boil some sprigs of the plant in water, simmer for around 20 minutes and cool. The combination of the oil and water will make your hair shiny, your scalp healthy and your mane smelling really good.

2. Jojoba Essential Oil. Aside from its effectiveness in supporting hair growth, the reason why this can be found in many essential oils and hair growth products, this is also known for giving moisture to the tresses. Its molecular characteristics can be likened to the oil that the glands in the scalp naturally produce. Unlike many essential oils, which need to be diluted in carrier oils before using, jojoba oil can be directly applied to the hair and scalp. Actually, this is used as a carrier oil for many essential oils and hair growth products. This kind of oil is hypoallergenic, so it won’t harm your scalp, skin and mane.

3. Rosemary Essential Oil. This can be used to grow your tresses and to delay the process of developing gray hair. This helps the scalp by improving its blood circulation. You can mix a few drops of this oil with olive oil and use the result in massaging the scalp. The leaves of rosemary can be boiled, simmered and cooled to produce water that you can use in rinsing your locks. The practice can help in retaining the natural color of your tresses. This is popularly practiced by people with black hair.

Survival And Emergency Tips

There are few things to remember in times of emergency, and it is best if you are always prepared since you cannot tell when such emergency situation strikes you.

1. Always have a standby emergency kit. Make it available at all times with enough supplies and at least three to seven days of stocks for every member of the households. The emergency kit should at least include all the necessary items required for human survival such as can goods, water, flashlights, can opener, disposable eating utensils, battery operated radio, emergency instructional manual and a standby fully charged mobile phone with numbers of those individuals to contact in times of trouble. Include the special items indicated for your family members such as prescription medicine, feminine hygiene, diapers for small children and others. Have a standby amount of money inside your emergency kit also and be sure that you will not be using it.

2. Design a strategic plan for your premises. Orient your family members on the things to do and the things to prioritize during emergency situation. Specify the numbers of individuals your children should contact in times of emergency. Specify their numbers and places. At home, children should be instructed on how to contact this person during emergency situations. Plan another meeting location aside from your own home. This is to ensure that your plan will not be ruined because of miscommunication or failure to gather because of opposite directions. It is best if family should practice such task to prepare everyone during crisis situation.

3. The emergency kit should be prepared and stocked in a dry and cool place. Ensure that the foods are on their fresh manufacture date. If possible, avoid placing this kit in your garage due to shifts in temperature. The water should be replaced between three to six months and smoke detectors installed in your premise should be checked by a technician in a monthly basis. This is to ensure that your security alarm systems are updated in times of trouble.

4. Since today is a crisis day, it is best to ensure that your valuables are protected. List down all your expensive valuables including appliances, gadgets and jewelries. You can even take pictures for additional proof. Store any legal documents and documentation in a safe place where fire of flood cannot damage them. Such place includes your relative’s house, bank vault or time deposit box.

5. Have a tangible copy of important documents. This is most important to items like your personal identification cards such as social security card, driver’s license, tax identification card, land title, marriage contract, baptismal and birth certificates, diplomas and other legal documents which you find necessary. This is for fire protection. If something happens to your house, valuables or family members, you will not experience difficulties in the claims such as insurance and others.

6. Ensure that you and your place are ensured. There are a lot of insurances covering individuals to houses nationwide. Such insurances are available during disaster of natural calamity. Other companies offer insurance more than the worth of your properties so it is better to have one. Make sure that you are updated in terms of the payment scheme so that you can claim in times of trouble.

7. Lastly, never ever forget about your pets. They are part of your family also. Include them in the emergency precaution and action plan designed for your family. Some households give less priority to their pets than their property during crisis. Love your pets like you love your children and be kind to them.

Prepare Your Home and Family For Natural Disaster – Important Tips to Remember

There are several things that individuals and families must prepare for, especially the ones that are not at all expected in the most usual and common circumstances like natural disasters and calamities. Making your home a calamity-resistant and safe dwelling place is one of the wisest investments you can ever venture into. How can you prepare your home and family to survive certain events that are beyond your control such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and the like?

What are natural calamities and preparedness plans for your home?

There are different calamities that require corresponding plans in order to surpass and survive its inevitable outcome or potential damages. Here are some of the most common disasters brought by nature and the appropriate ways of preparing for such events.

1. Earthquake. Especially for places situated in fault lines that are extremely prone to earth quakes and destructive tremors, homes and families in the area must ensure their safety through earthquake insurance and the following precautionary measures.
• Home evaluation. This is possible through the help of a structural design engineer who has the professional knowledge, skills and training to properly and accurately assess important structural foundations of your home like enhancing your exteriors such as sliding doors, canopies, porches, garage doors and decks in the front and back parts of the house.
• To avoid circumstantial damages to your home, repair and fix defective wirings and electrical connections or leaky gases which may cause fire triggered by the earthquake. Likewise bolt down other electrical appliances and water heating systems to avoid further damage to your home.
• Reconstruct and repair some visible cracks in foundations and ceilings which are apparent possible causes of structural damage during earthquakes.
• Homes which are located along lines must adhere to local seismic building standards as well as the use of codes for safe land regulations.

2. Hurricanes. Most areas or states in the US experience hurricanes many times every year, thus preparing for this type of natural calamity is a necessity.
• Installation of exterior protection for the outside portions of your sliding doors especially those made of glass and breakable materials.
• Installation of permanently constructed shutters on your window area is required to ensure that you are well-protected from deadly debris and damage to your windows and interiors.
• Reinforce and strengthen other fundamental areas in your house such as garage doors, ceilings, floors and the like.

3. Wildland Fires
• It is a must to secure local building codes and by-laws which are especially regulated for home structures which are built and constructed nearby wooded areas.
• Make sure you use fire-resistant materials for constructing your home, as you clean and get rid of combustible leaves and other plant components on your roof and gutter in a regular basis.

Preparation is a must in order to avoid all the possible damages and at worst, mortalities that natural phenomena can result to. It is imperative for all homeowners and family members to do the best that they can for survival amidst the inevitable wrath of nature.

Relationship Survival Technique

We all fantasize about that faerie tale relationship. Men may hold one vision while women dream about another, but when it comes right down to it we all want the same thing in the end: to be happy, healthy, prosperous loved and valued for whom we are. In other words, to feel good about ourselves and our lives.

Relationships are the most challenging ways to uncover love because we need to be transparent in exposing our vulnerabilities. And often we come face to face with our own blocks, attachments and unconscious programming while our lover mirrors back to us evidence of our likes, dislikes, belief systems, judgments, compulsions and conformities. Yet we continue to return to the ring of love again and again because there’s an indescribable essence inside each of us that says something bigger is at play when we come together with another.

There’s no disputing the fact that we are the ones who choose how we feel. But when we are tossed all over the emotional universe with the words, expectations and agendas of others, it can get difficult to stay centered in those feelings of love, compassion, adoration and generosity that bring us inner peace, clarity of mind and the fulfillment of that faerie tale relationship. Without calmness and understanding we more easily react to situations rather than respond to them. It’s our reactions that get us into trouble because we usually lash out at people we love or withdraw; neither being the loving solution to the problem at hand.

This survival technique gives you the tools to immediately return to your center anytime, anywhere and in the presence of anyone. It’s easy, powerful and only requires a few minutes of your time. Life doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated. In those moments when you feel the tension building between you and your partner, friends or children, use these simple steps to calm your storm so you can continue to engage in a joyful relationship dance with those you love.

Practice these 5 steps often and at times when you are not experiencing stress, in order to develop a habit of responding rationally to all situations rather than reacting from a place of fear and insecurity. And please share this process freely with others, so they too can bring themselves back into balance easily.

Steps:
(Note: you can do this with your eyes open or closed; closing your eyes eliminates unnecessary distractions and returns you to center quicker.)

1. Take several long, slow deep breaths in and out, until your focus is only on your breath. Continue this slow, focused breathing as long as necessary, allowing your mind to empty of all thoughts, without rushing the process.

2. Think of something that makes you feel good. It can be a person you appreciate, a pet, a beautiful sunset, an enchanting song or anything that gives you the feeling of joy, appreciation, love or gratitude. Stay with the feeling for as long as necessary (This helps you open your heart and shifts you out of the flight/flight reaction state.)

3. Evoke the genuine feelings of care, compassion and love and radiate these feelings towards the person, pet or object of affection you choose in Step 2. Breathe these feelings out from your heart like a stream of effervescent light and allow them to completely envelop the object of your affection.

4. Now envision your lover, friend or child and allow this same stream of love energy to infuse his or her entire being. Keep the feelings of love and care flowing and send the emotions of gratitude and appreciation to this person because it feels good to you.

5. Take a nice, deep breath in and let it out slowly, deciding that no matter how anyone else behaves, YOU are choosing to walk this earth life in love, peace and compassion.

End Times Survival

During these times of chaos, wars, and economic hard times, many have begun thinking about their own survival. We may ask ourselves, “Will we survive, and will the world survive the coming cataclysms and dark times?”

There are some considerations regarding physical survival, such as having a little water and food put aside for a rainy day, but as many of us are aware, physical survival is not our only consideration. After all, physical survival is only temporal, but spiritual survival is eternal.

Although I have come to the conclusion that the apostle Paul lacked the spiritual discernment Jesus was teaching his disciples, I do like what he had to say to the Ephesians about what we as humans are facing.

Paul understood that we wrestle not just against flesh and blood, but that we also wrestle against unseen forces, against spiritual darkness and wickedness in high places. He suggested we put on the full armor of God if we would survive the end times.

Then we might ask, “How do we put on the full armor of God?”

The only power Creator has revealed to me that Satan cannot defeat is unconditional love without judgment. This is the full armor of God, who is the Spirit of unconditional love.

When Satan tries to get us to darken our own souls and separate us from Creator, he tries to get us to do something hurtful to someone else. He may whisper to us that we need to retaliate for something someone did to us. So this is why it is so important that we have unconditional love resident in our hearts. Then we won’t do something mean or hurtful. Our own souls will stay protected in oneness with our heavenly Father.

May we each invite Creator’s Spirit to reside in our hearts so we may all spiritually survive these end times.

Spiritual teachings of unconditional love leading to eternal life in the presence of our heavenly Father are taught in the book Red Hat Speaks by Dorothy K. Daigle. Red Hat Speaks can be ordered from any bookstore for .95. Let’s not wait too long. When the time is up, the place of our eternal destiny will be sealed.

How to Prepare For Disasters

You never know what can happen in the world today. Global warming has made natural disasters much more frequent and powerful. Wars are happening everywhere. Virus outbreaks are getting more frequent and dangerous as well. When it happens, there is nothing we can do to stop it but we can make sure that we prepare ourselves for it. Following the steps below will help you increase your chances of survival.

1. Plan for an Emergency
Planning is critical if you want to survive a disaster. Plan for anything that can happen to you in any situation. It’s important that you know where everything is and to keep them in the same place where it is accessible. Having a small survival kit in your car is a good idea in case something happens on the road. If possible, everyone involved should know what the plan is.

2. Build a Complete First Aid Kit
I have yet to find a ready made medical kit that caters for everything but it’s a good place to start your collection. Try the professional version of the emergency kit. It’s still not complete but it’s a very good place to start with.

Be sure you have enough to cater for everyone. There is no such things are having too much medical supply. In natural disasters or other emergencies, a lack of supply is much more common. Always buy extra bandages and antiseptic wipes for better protection.

3. First Aid Training
All that time and money to build an emergency kit won’t do any good if you don’t know how to use them. Courses like CPR, First Aid and AED are offered by the Red Cross but that’s not all. Always improve your knowledge, learn about injury prevention, blood borne pathogens and community disaster. Knowing these skills can be lifesaving.

4. Store Emergency Water
There might be a water shortage during an emergency so better stock up. Store them in containers that are not easily punctured and replace old water with fresh water every three months. Fill up all your containers if you think that a disaster is coming soon.

Remember to have a stock of water purification tablets but be aware that they’re only safe when used for short periods of time and with the correct dosage.

5. Save Up Some Food
You should have a variety of food stored in case of an emergency and remember that you might not always be able to heat up your food. If you’ve built your emergency kit well, you’ll be able to warm up your food on a wood fire.

6. Cooking
Access to a stove may prove difficult in a emergency situation. In this case, propane stoves are a perfect companion. Having hot food to eat keeps your body nourished and helps you deal with the cold better.

7. Replacement Lights
In tornadoes and hurricanes, losing power is a very likely situation. That’s why you need emergency lighting. If you’re using an electric lantern, be sure to stock up on batteries. Light sticks are excellent because they can last very long. They’re fairly cheap and you can get them in varying lengths of hours and different colors. Stock up several of them.

8. Emergency Tool Kit
In an emergency situation, you might need some tools for whatever tasks comes your way. You might need to dig of hole, cut wood, fix the camp stove or tons of other stuff. A multi-tool is always handy so make sure you have that.

9. Emergency Radio
To keep up-to-date with the news and weather reports in a natural disaster emergency you need a radio. It’s important that an emergency radio can still play even without power e.g. a wind-up radio.

10. Guides
There are a lot of useful tips you can get from survival guides. Check with other guides to see if the information has at least some truth in it. Pay particular on the part about foraging. There are many deaths as a result of eating poisonous food. Mushrooms, in particular, have been responsible for thousands of deaths through the years. Foraging and survival guides can help give you that extra edge.

Where your life is concerned, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. To be prepared may take some work but it’s the best way to make sure you and your family come out safe in an emergency.

Wilderness Survival Shelter

On the day that I went out into the woods to create a shelter I had a simple plan. I would create a lean-to style shelter with a raised bed and an area for a fire. Simple enough.

After walking the woods trying to find a suitable spot, I found a rather large log that was laying on the ground. With a little work, this would provide a good base on which to build my raised bed. I set to work creating the base of my shelter by using logs, large and small, which I found laying around. The easiest way to describe what I ended up with was wood stacked in what would look very close to a tic-tac-toe board. By weighting each of these four “legs” down, I could have a suitable place to lay branches to create my bed. The bed would be on one of the outer sides of the tic-tac-toe board.

After about 2 or so hours into the build, I started to get tired. I didn’t really think that the process would be so labor intensive. Of course, being a few pounds lighter and working out more would probably have helped. Anyway, I carried on with my task. Once the base was totally complete,

I began to lay down long, straight, and strong branches for the bed. Unfortunately, the stuff on the ground was mostly rotting (I had used all the good stuff), so I had to sacrifice some trees in order to get the materials that I needed. About 7 to 10 long pieces of wood completed the bed frame.

Normally, you would want to create a mattress for your bed out of pine boughs. I was, however, in a deciduous forest and had to make due with ground vegetation. I stripped the soft leaves from the woody stalks and created a nice mattress for myself. It could have been thicker, but it would do. I was tired.

It was then, that I realized my major mistake. Although I had a good spot for the base of the shelter (or so I thought), there were no close trees to which I could tie a ridge pole for my lean-to. I could have tried to create something myself with a lot of wood, cordage, and frustration – but I didn’t think this would be the suitable way to do things in the wild. I made a mistake, and I would live with it. There would be no lean-to over my bed.

This exercise taught me a few things about going into the woods. They were simple things. The biggest thing I learned from this was: Do not under estimate the time and energy things will take in order to get your camp set up. Be sure to give yourself enough time to complete your projects or it will be dark and you will still be working on your bed that still doesn’t have a roof on it! Car Tips for Storm Preparation

Even though hurricanes can be devastating, they provide at least 2 upsides that several other natural disasters don’t: first, you can see them on its way, which means that No.2 you have enough time to get ready. Our veterans of Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina, Dennis, Gustav et al present some tips to smooth the hurricanes preparation — no matter whether you intend to ride things out and go.

1. You need to pack up.
Many SUVs and wagons feature roof racks, but not every person has packing containers designed for rooftop travel. There’s nothing wrong with taping shoeboxes to your vehicle, we guess, but ponying up for an inexpensive container like the multi-purpose Getout bag from Yakima tends to make packing much easier. Added tip: you won’t need to worry about showering the drivers behind you with toiletries, toys or unmentionable.

2. You should maintain your car.
Have you been postponing car maintenance? Need new auto tires? Serpentine belt about to go? Now it’s the time to get that taken care of, stat. In a best world, you’d have taken full advantage of the summer down time to mosey into your local car port — or put your car up on blocks, if that’s your thing. Nowadays, you just ought to be sure your car should be in the perfect possible shape for a prospective round-trip evacuation of 400 plus miles.

3. There’s often a hitch.
As most people evacuate, they take the largest car they’ve got. That is sensible, provided all the people, belongings and pets that people want to take with them, but bigger cars often come about short on fuel economy. A hitch carrier provides you a little bit more storage room — and if you don’t have a truck with an open bed, it gives a room to put extra fuel. Anyone who’s ever invested 12 hours traveling 100 miles in bumper-to-bumper evacuation traffic understands how important that can be.

4. Think about your children.
Whether you decide to leave town or stick it out, considering hurricanes leads to a lot of pressure and that goes double if you’re a mother or father. The time will go much faster if your wee ones are preoccupied with the latest version of play games. If you’re about to pack up, seize a headrest mount for your iPad or other tablet. We’ve seen them for Mercedes, BMW and other cars, but a speedy search on Amazon shows up an array of brackets to match most any ride. That’ll maintain the backseat much quieter — and you much calmer as a result.

Altezza Tail Lights Preparing for natural disasters is never enjoyable, but suffering the process right now can save you uncounted time and stress down the line. And you should pick up some important car parts for your bmw or other rides.

If a Disaster Strikes, Is Your Business Well-Prepared?

When every business ranging from small to large organization runs on mission critical IT services, the data center services providers do their best to prevent, alleviate, respond and recover technology infrastructure from human induced and natural disasters. A subset and an integral part of business continuity, disaster recovery aims to create resilient business in the process.

A data center has to face challenges like power shortages, floods and sudden shut offs, pilferage, cooling etc. Data centers need to prepare beforehand to encompass the areas of emergency and plan the response and recovery accordingly. A disaster recovery plan can never be accurately prepared or predicted to bounce back from a disaster 100 percent fool- proof. So, a recovery plan should be flexible enough to cope up with the predicament of a disaster to minimize the losses.

While some of the data center services providers aim to provide a complete and perfect resolution to the disaster, most of them fail. Here are four cases which ponder over the reasons of the failure of adopting a fool-proof business continuity or Disaster Recovery Plan.

1) Stale Methodology: Most of the data centers fail to understand and determine between the most critical elements of a business’s IT infrastructure. The business continuity plan of the data centers never seems to resonate with the business they work for and the objectives they store their data or computing resources. Sometimes, it happens that a company develops and with the time the focus on products, infrastructure grows as well. But the data center service provider is not updated on the front of the development and hence, cannot come up with a streamlined approach to handle the disaster well.
2) Wrong Evaluations of Resources: Most of the data centers keep stressing on capability, value and efficiency of their disaster recovery plan but forget that nowadays mission critical services demand a new angle of business continuity. Rather then focusing on the all components, they should be actionable and clear towards aligning key products and services of business.  They should show preparedness towards restoring the business with key services in real time. A proper risk assessment and understanding of the needs and priorities of a business is must before drafting a precise and near-accurate business recovery plan.
3) Misdirection of the Program: Even if the providers understand the risks and come up with a comprehensive list of do’s and don’ts, they are unable to come with a strategic recommendations and actions. The program objectives should be changed on timely basis and tested to check interdependencies of computing resources and their impact on business operations.
4) Impractical Approach towards Business Continuity: While drafting any business continuity plan, double check it for practicality. Make sure that it could be implemented in real time. Keeping a ring side view of time and resources needed to be saved is critical. All the functions related to the creation /analysis of business continuity plan should resonate in call to action.

It is a well-known fact that a well planned disaster recovery strategy by a data center can reduce the operational, financial and regulatory aftermath significantly. However, to roll out an effective disaster recovery plan, review of the existing plans, evaluation of the unforeseen events and active participation in recovery objectives is imperative.

Stone age tools and techniques helped man survive for a lot of thousands of years and they could have a use in modern survival scenarios. Listed here are a number of primitive survival expertise which will allow you to not merely survive, but thrive within the outdoors.

Just as with any contemporary tools using the primitive tools just isn’t easy to learn and 1 ought to not obtain these skillsets immediately after your life depends upon them.

Craft a Dart Thrower

The atl-atl is usually a primitive weapon which was applied by our early ancestors for a large number of years. It truly is capable of launching a dart pretty accurately and with enough velocity to penetrate and kill significant game.

It is produced by carving a shaft of wood with a manage as well as a spur which the dart is seated in before launching it. The atl-atl is about 24-30 inches lengthy, and may be carved from a tree limb having a smaller hook or stub of a branch left for the spur.

With practice, the atl-atl is often correct to 100 meters, but is greatest applied at close assortment of around 20 meters. Its worth as a survival tool is the fact that it could be easily manufactured and operated silently.

The atl-atls ammo consists of darts about twice the length of a typical arrow as much as five or six feet. A dart might be made in three elements: a foreshaft, a shaft, and fletching.

The fletching is usually a row of feathers, commonly brief, trimmed one-sided wing feathers, glued towards the base end like on an arrow. They are in 3 rows with a slight twist to offer regular flight and rotation.

The foreshaft is attached to the stone or metal point with tree sap and sinew. All the joints or regions around the shaft, foreshaft, and fletching that could spilt have to be reinforced with cordage or animal sinew.

Develop into an Specialist Firemaker

Fire generating is a further primitive art that is definitely highly critical in a survival scenario. A fire bow kit is easy to make out of all-natural materials observed in most environments and is simple to master with practice. You will need a fireboard, socket, drill, and bow.

The modest bow is created employing a curved, stout but flexible branch or stick with a bow string. The string is often made from a shoelace or parachute cord . The string is attached with adequate slack to twist a short fire starter stick in it. It really should be adjusted to become just tight enough ? not as well tight to become complicated to turn, and not too slack exactly where it won?t build the friction have to start a fire.

The bow is moved inside a motion like a hand saw to twirl the fire stick quickly on a notched plank, referred to as the fireboard. The fire stick (8-12 inches lengthy) really should be of soft wood with a rounded, dull tip on one end that will aid develop the ember; and a pointed tip that can seat inside the socket around the other finish.

The fireboard should be of dry wood, at least a half-inch in thickness, and thick bark is often the most effective plank. Care should really be taken to have all components prepared just before starting up to utilize the fire bow. This takes some effort, but preparation is a lot of the battle. Only a compact ember is developed within the course of action and ought to be handled appropriately.

Master the Art of Flintknapping

Flintknapping is usually a skill our ancestors utilised for thousands of years to make most or all of the tools essential to hunt, gather and prepare food.

A simple flintknapping tool kit for producing these tools involves: 1 or more hammerstones, soft hammer billets produced from wood or deer antler, antler tines for pressure flaking, along with a leather pad for safeguarding the palm and leg. The principle resource necessary for flintknapping is usually a superior high quality ?flint.?

Knapping is accomplished by smashing a ?core? using a ?hammerstone?. This is executed generally by holding the core in or near one particular?s lap or around the thigh. A close to miss can cause discomfort or injury, and rock spalls can fly in all directions and penetrate flesh, eyes, or bystanders. This should be performed over a tarp or protected surface.

By striking the core using the hammerstone at a controlled angle, a flake might be produced. These are then chosen for their ultimate use: arrow points, dart points or spear points; double edged or beveled knife blades; hide scrappers, and so on.

Hopefully, none of you will have to rely on these tools and tactics to survive, but I also hope you find time to find out a little a lot more about them and practice when or twice, just in case you do need to rely on some primitive survival tools.

Survival on Snow Keeps Your Body Off Ice!

Patrick Young once quoted: “The trouble with weather forecasting is that it’s right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it.”

And when it comes to snowstorms, they always hit you when least expect it, so learning these snow survival skills now could pay off big time later.

Now, most cases of people getting stuck in a snowstorm occur during travel, which results in getting stuck right in the middle of nowhere with zero visibility.

Apart from the disappointment of not being able to make it on time, you’ll find out that some situations can turn out to be downright nasty, which even the most daring stunt driver in Hollywood would pass on.

Let’s face it: if you’re caught in a snowstorm, there’s no chance of getting out of it by driving off in another direction, so please, stop wasting valuable heat-giving fuel!

All you can do is wait and hope that the snowstorm clears peacefully without turning things upside down. And that’s the last place anyone in their right mind would like to find themselves… at Nature’s mercy!

However, in areas where snowstorms occur more frequently than not, taking precautions in carrying a survival kit in your trunk can go a long way to reduce the physical and emotional trauma that one can experience. This survival kit should contain at least a few basic necessities such as matches, flares, water, snacks, blankets, first aid packs, flashlights, batteries, and an emergency cell phone.

To be honest, this is just one part of the solution, really.

The most important part is to overcome the ‘battle of the mind’. People, when thrown into a situation like this, tend to panic. In doing so, it will render even a hundred survival kits useless, unless you think in a calm and collected manner.

3 Survival on Snow Tips

If you manage this, your rate of survival on snow increases dramatically. So, let’s review some specific steps you can take in a snowstorm:

Stay as close as possible to your car which will provide warmth if you have sufficient gas. Ventilation is important too, just so you don’t succumb to asphyxiation. Tune in to any local radio station immediately to get an update on weather reports (which will also provide information to those who need assistance).
If the situation is serious enough for you to go for help (especially if you have family with you), or need to avoid hypothermia, snow caves or the shelter under a tree will serve as adequate protection from the storm. Pull the snow in tight and pack the sides. Since this will take a lot of effort, taking shelter under a tree should be your first option.
If in a situation where you think rescue efforts will take more than a day or two, remember that you can survive without food for much longer than without water. And in this case, the snow seems to be the best possible source of water here, thus survival on snow becomes quite literal. Just ensure that you take in a little at a time or else you will start to feel the cold from the inside. What would really help in this case is getting a fire going, so carrying something in your survival kit which can provide a source of heat will really help.

With the aid of these snow survival tips, you should be back in the warmth of the sun in no time!
